The Integrated Actor combines disciplined text analysis with rigorous physical and vocal training, creating an environment where experienced actors can push creative boundaries and step outside their heads. As always, the course will begin with body and movement work, followed by scenes from the nominated playwright of the year (Tennessee Williams). The course encourages a deep, personal exploration of characters and texts, ensuring that each performance is a unique, living work of art.
In this course you will learn to:
- Perform and apply text analysis
- Master the art of acting through action, based on Stanlislavski's structure of events, objectives and tactics.
- Connect text and body
- Transforming mental constructs into instinctive responses. This method blends classical text work (Williams) with Grotowski-inspired physical exploration, allowing your instrument (body-voice) to respond instinctively to every impulse.
Ultimately, you'll approach Williams with a "heretical curiosity," ensuring that the text doesn't limit your artistic freedom. You'll learn how a dynamic actor creates a performance, rather than letting the text dictate the outcome.
- Practice the English language
- Having a native English teacher who also speaks and understands Italian is a rare opportunity in Milan. Very few courses offer this type of teaching and approach. That's why L'Attore Integrato stands out, thanks to the experience and expertise of professionals like director Nick Rapp.
Each lesson will include vocal and physical exercises to ensure your instrument is warmed up and ready for this type of work. Each session will follow this structure:
• Warm-up: physical and vocal exercises to activate your “instrument”
• Core exploration: scene work with partners, focusing on subtexts, impulses and bold reinterpretations
• Reflection and guidance: Group feedback, coaching and adjustments to refine your skills
At the end of the course, a guest from the industry (casting director, talent agent, film or theater director) will be invited to participate in a presentation of the students' work.
The final month will be dedicated to filming the scenes prepared during the year, to test your work in front of the camera. This will be done in collaboration with director and videographer Luca Rubertà. Participants will receive the footage to use in their showreels.

THE COURSE TRAINER
Nicholas Rapp is a theater artist specializing in the reinterpretation of classical texts. Having studied with Lee Breuer and Gabor Tompa, Nicholas developed an interest in formal experimentation. His work has been presented in Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, and elsewhere. BA: UCLA; MFA: UC San Diego
OUR STUDENTS' OPINION:
Nick knows how to see in each individual exactly the qualities that make them unique actors, encouraging and simultaneously challenging their limits to unleash these qualities. The journey I've undertaken with him and my classmates has changed me as an actress, pushing me beyond personal boundaries that previously seemed insurmountable in such a short time. This course is more than a course, it's an opportunity, a gateway to new frontiers.
MARIA POPOVIC
I had the opportunity to work with Nick last September on Ovid's "The Metamorphoses." He's a brilliant director, but above all, an exceptional teacher. I had several challenges approaching and bringing the roles I was given to life, and he was able to help me in every way. He always took the time to give me advice and send me videos of examples of how to perform them. He has an irrepressible passion for theater and isn't shy about sharing everything he knows.
ANNA CARCELLI
I started the integrated actor program with Nick in January of this year and what really struck me about him, beyond his experience, was how he dedicated himself to us even outside of class. Many times we met outside of class to prepare scenes and he even dedicated an entire afternoon to preparing the scenes and his humanity also struck me a lot. This course was truly a unique experience for me.
CRISTOFORO VETTORI
It's incredible how liberating theater is: if you're looking for a way to overcome your inhibitions, this is it.
Whether you're a beginner or have studied acting, this course opens doors to anyone willing to challenge themselves and open their minds. Personally, of the courses I've taken, "The Integrated Actor" was the most effective in releasing inhibitions as an actress and as a person, and in helping me discover new things about myself. Nick is a fantastic guide in this regard—not only a highly trained director but also a true master. His approach opens so many doors, as he comes from a different background, the American one.
In conclusion, if you want to grow not only as an actor but also as a human being, this is the course for you.
FABIANA IANNICELLI
The title perfectly describes my experience in the course: working on texts by a great author like Ibsen, rich in context and meaning, integrating the actor's personal development, both human and technical. The focus is on character development as much as on the actor's authenticity on stage: real emotions, rooted in the body, conveyed through breathing and a conscious physical presence. Nick has the rare ability to read what's happening inside an actor while performing and, from there, guide them toward a deeper stage truth. The work is highly personalized, and each participant can grow and develop according to their own potential and needs. This doesn't preclude, but rather supports, the creation of a welcoming and supportive group for each participant.
SARA SANTUCCI
Nick has always been very attentive and available, always ready to dedicate time and support to everyone. Working with him on bodywork has consistently allowed me to discover truth and presence on stage through new tools. I will carry all these experiences with me on my journey.
